A detail from the incredible 38-metre diameter painting in Istanbul's Panorama 1453 Museum, which depicts the conquest of Constantinople by the army of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II, and the subsequent fall of the Byzantine capital. A flaming cannonball explodes in the midst of the invading army.
