Sir Edmund Hillary

Situated outside the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre and Hermitage Hotel in Aoraki, New Zealand, this commemorative statue to the legendary explorer and mountaineer is positioned so that he seems to be gazing at Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest point and the mountain upon which he trained before his successful ascent of Mount Everest.
